'Woke up!' - Part 4 of the series 'Bourgeois Desires' by Karin Sawetz

Series 'Bourgeois Desires' by Karin Sawetz

Part 3: 'Who is the policeman's wife really?
Part 2: 'The nice wife of the policeman'
Part 1: 'The dark side of a counselor's life'

Part 1 to 3 of the story about the Austrian state counselor (in German 'Hofrat') is purely fictional and inspired by a dream by the series' author Karin Sawetz.

Part 4: 'Woke up!'
The 'Bourgeois Desires' were until yet a fictitious story inspired by a dream about sex and crime playing in Austria's security agent and justice scene. 'Woke up!' throws a realistic light from a very personal view on the situation in Austria how it was made generously public in the last around ten days. With this episode entitled 'Woke up!', the 'Bourgeois Desires'-series gets an essential thread spun by fate and written down in a personal note by Karin Sawetz on 25 May, published on 28 May 2019.

Digital detox? Around two weeks ago I tried to escape from the digital news avalanches I feel like being buried each day. But no way; the Austrian government caused a political mega-avalanche I haven't experienced in my lifetime yet. Austria's government navigated the ship directly and literally to an island. Since the Austrians have passed the Ibiza-gate, the trust into political parties has reached its lowest level. Actually the whole issue can't be deeper - if it's the content of the video itself, the fact that the video was ever made or that the view into the private life of people was ever published. The only way to get clear with this whole situation (especially the privacy aspect is very sensible) is probably possible through the cathartic practice similar to Aristotle's definition used for the effects of tragedy which means playing all the roles through and trying to understand the plot.

The elements of the plot of the Austrian 'Ibiza-Scandal' aren't new: Political parties receive money from big players of the country's economy for the election race and decide later in powerful positions after the enterprises will. The second main topic is the control of powerful media. So, nothing new since humans organized themselves in democracies. But reason enough to stop my personal digital detox for observing how people react to the 'Ibiza'-videos which led in short words to the end of the government how it was sworn in after the last election.

Now more than a week after the compromising videos were published I'm far away from the desired detox condition. I feel really pissed off - more than ever! The full-time (hours long) video is two years old and like it was a bad plan of fate, it was published through German news channels at a time exactly when I was thrown from life's luck wheel into a situation which correlated with my wish to change my digital behavior. The thrown-in situation was equipped with limited access to the internet. When I heard from the videos, I needed around 15 minutes for connecting with super-fast, unlimited internet. Okay! What's wrong here at the whole campaign? For sure it's a campaign - only that nobody is quite sure about the initiators behind? Politics has become disgusting. The rotten porridge of truths about falsehoods was served some days before the elections to the European parliament. Tomorrow are the elections; I will publish this article some days later. On Monday, the Austrians will decide if the current chancellor will lead our country until the next elections in September. This article will be published when votes of the people have already shown if the 'Ibiza-Affair' had significant impact on the European Parliament election results and after the Austrian parliament has decided who and how they will govern in the next future.

'Old news!" the reader of this text might think. Does it matter? It's my personal chronicle from 25 May.
